Do you remember the ant that moved a rubber tree plant? Check out the classic song. Everyone thought he couldn’t do it because he was so little. But, he had high hopes.

So much of life is a matter of perspective. We look at the task, we look at ourselves and we determine that it is not possible. The result… status quo, mediocrity, and sometimes nothing at all.

The ant did not look at himself. If he did, he would not have moved the plant or a crumb for that matter. “High hopes” is what empowered him.

We too have “high hopes” in Christ who has a mission – a good work for us to do. (Eph. 2:10) Imagine your God-given work fueled by high hopes. Not in yourself, but in the One who put it in your heart to do it. The task becomes smaller and the accomplishment greater.

What is your task at hand today? What has God put on your heart to do?

Today you may need to run errands, get dinner on the table, parent, organize an event, study for an exam, talk to your neighbor about Christ, prepare to teach a Bible study, mentor, coach, counsel, start that organization, raise funds for that non-profit, go on that mission trip, pursue that dream…

…stead of lett’n go, just remember that ant. Whoops there goes another rubber tree plant!
